Artist's Description

"Hand" (1979) by Dietmar Scherf. The hand: reaching for something, explosive, motion, action; reaching for something elusive: perhaps for that vanishing dream or that lost love; signs of bitten fingernails from the stress, the desire to attain. The hand ages as we walk through life getting tired as we get older. Captured by Scherf in the style of Egon Schiele with a touch of Kokoschka.
